2016 already birthed few great albums (Wild Nothing, our Polish Rebeka, The Temper Trap, Blossoms, Roosevelt, recently Francis and the Lights) but the bar has been raised especially for two girls already wrote about: Shura and Salt Ashes. It's usually hard for my favorites to meet my expectations but Salt Ashes the LP delivers: it is very sparkly, groovy and passionate. This album proves that consistent disco/electro long plays are still a thing.

Trudno powiedzieć, dlaczego tak długo zwlekałem z kolejną częścią tłumaczeń. Chyba kwestia wakacyjnego lenistwa. Pozostajemy w niezwykle interesującym muzycznie, szczególnie z brytyjskiego punktu widzenia, okresie końcówki lat 70. początku kolejnej dekady XX wieku. Był to czas kontrastów. Nierzadko na listach przebojów królowały całkiem eksperymentalne, bardzo chłodne i pozornie (?) nieludzkie utwory, by wspomnieć najbardziej znane dokonania Gary'ego Numana, walcząc z utworami Goombay Dance Band i Julio Iglesiasa znanymi u nas z "Koncertu życzeń" (TVP lub Lata z raidem).

As much as I love the 80s, people in that decade were deprived of some joyful experiences like ABBA reunion and pop albums by the Bishop of Rome. In our times, nothing's impossible even if it sometimes raises the question: what's the deal? I know that puns are one the lowest forms of jokes but what if the artist I want to recommend you, London-born producer, DJ and singer Ashley Pope just  announced EP series Join the Faith? There's a logic in it: if you have a moniker, why to run away from it?

My recap of OFF Festival is in Polish only, so to cut long story short: it was total disaster if you went for headliners (most of them pulled off at the last moment) and very rewarding experience if you wanted to discover obscure world music, if you are shoegaze fan or soul music lover. Quite exhausting, too, especially journey back home with no headphones and phone charger. One thing kept me alive on that day: realization that the most gorgeous female singer I've seen in ages (I know the purpose of this blog is to judge music, not looks, but it's just calling spade a spade) liked my photo of Lush and followed my Instagram account.

Teoretycznie powinienem wybrzydzać, że OFF Festival nigdy za bardzo nie trafiał w moje gusta, że jeździłem tam zawsze dla towarzystwa, a seria odwołanych koncertów (wydarzenie chyba bez precedensu w historii polskich imprez muzycznych na taką skalę) była gwoździem do trumny. Pamiętacie jednak na pewno, że już nie raz przekonywałem Was, co stanowi prawdziwą siłę katowickiego wydarzenia: nie headlinerzy, a spontaniczne odkrycia. Jadąc na Śląsk oczywiście liczyłem na przyjemne doznania shoegazowe, ponieważ to mój ulubiony gatunek w ostatnich miesiącach, ale byłem też przekonany, że czeka mnie jakaś pozytywna azjatycka lub afrykańska niespodzianka. Nie wiedziałem, że rzeczywistość przerośnie moje oczekiwania!
